f100 dealers

can anyone share a name or two ,of people who i could call ,in the southern states, who might sell me a decent 1953-1955 project or nice parts. i would pay a finders fee for a nice cab or project truck.i have already burnt enough gas looking at rust buckets..should have bought a nice f100 instead of all that fuel over the last 10 years..

Welcome jm ray, hopefully someone will be able to pass on a lead. It`s not easy to find the right one close by.
One idea is to check FTE`s classifieds, here`s the link: https://www.ford-trucks.com/classifieds/index.php
Possibly E-Bay might work for you.

Stick around and become active in the forums. Make as many (online) friends as you can.

I did and it was not too long before a member here found my 56 for me (thanks Tacson).

Keep your eyes on the classifieds and evilbay too as you go along.

Jim Ray,

What southern state are you in? When you say project do you just want a cab to include doors or do you want a running project that you can drive and work on at the same time. I can steer you towards either. Just depends upon what you want. Thanks Donald

Welcome Jim Ray

I have seen some pretty decent 53-56 trucks in Texas in the San Antonio area. Arkansas sometimes has some that have been pretty well preserved. It appears you are in Mississippi. Now that you have "put the word out" keep us up to date on the search and I'm sure people on this forum will offer leads for you to check out. Depending on your metal working skills and time available you might want to consider a truck in the best sheetmetal condition you can afford to lessen the task of replacing sheetmetal that has rusted out.

I am going to second the above and the last sentence in particular. Buy absolutely the bestcomplet/sheetmetal quality that you can find. It will be you cheapest and fastest route to a nice truck and in the end the best truck. Drive train is definately second or third in priority.
Good Luck

Welcome Jim,

We've had this asked before and my response always is; if we knew where there was a nice truck with good sheetmetal at a fair price, we'd have already bought it ourselves! Having one old truck is not likely to stop most of us from snagging another good one.

Anyway, my advice would be to bide your time -- wait for one just like you want and at the price you want. They're still out there!

Welcome to the forum. I looked around for about 2 years before I found mine and it wasn't what I was looking for either. I wanted a running rust free 48-50 F-1 reasonably complete and partially modified with a newer engine and transmission. Every truck I found that was running was way overpriced and if it wasn't running it was a worthless pile of crap. What I finally settled for was an original 48 F-3 with no bed or rear fenders, worthless front fenders and running boards, a running flathead (yeaa! but I didn't want a flathead!), and with every piece of glass in it shot out with a pellet gun. Basically, the only good body parts left were the cab, doors, hood, and grille. I had never tried to bring back a car or truck this far gone but I bought it anyway since it was the best deal I could find. I have done a lot of enjoyable work on the truck and still have a way to go. The good news about these old trucks is that you can get just about any part you need for them used or reproduction.

Good luck on your search.
