I am just about to final paint on my dream truck, a 51 F6 big boy. I put in the cam today to start the rebuild of the 226 flathead 6. I also put in the valves, valve springs, and locks. Tomorrow I will put in the crank along with the mains, probably get to the pistons and rods as well. Hopefully saturday finish it up. I want to paint it myself as well. I just need to figure out where around my town I can use a spray booth. Just to be putting the engine together has been a long time coming. It truely is looking like I will be taking my daily driver dream truck to the f100 supernational. Oh...then I will start on my next dream truck a 52 F6 COE. Your right the next project truck will always be one's dream truck.

I posted what my dream truck would be. I never said mine would get to that state.

Some of you may move on to another project and then another one and another one.

I wanted this truck when I was 14 (I'm 40 now), so it has been a long time getting to this point.

With my health the way it is (and financially), IF I ever get it mechanically reliable and slap some paint on it, that will probably be as far as the project ever goes during my lifetime. I just want to enjoy driving it while I still can.

Nuthin,

Believe me, I have talked to my truck. Many times when it decides to act it's age and not start, especially when I am 100 miles from home or I have to get somewhere. I talk to it plenty.

I will also admit I do say "Hi" to it when I walk into the garage, after all, we've been together for over 35 years way longer than I have been married, but I assure you I have never heard it say anything back. The closest it has come to talking to me is when we're tooling down the road and the old flat six is purring away or whining between shifts. It always reminds me of the times I spent in it with my dad when I was a kid. I spent my school vacation days with my dad helping out in his auto repair business. Then I suppose, you could say, it's talking about the good ol' days

Have you ever heard of one being done on a swivel frame, Willock or otherwise. I've not. Maintaining a truck's structural integrity with the addition of the swivel would be a real task. I didn't see a sale price on the '56 FFPW in your second posting, I can guess why. Spendy.

Looks like they did do Fords, at least the bigger models. The ad says any truck, so probably some F-3s got done too. Stu

Only in brochures Stu so there might have been a couple done. Never seen pics of an actual one though. And yes, I reckon that Power Wagon would have been very pricey.

This post struck me. 5 years later and a cross country trip in the 53. AWESOME!!!

If money were no object....I would probably have something like Jay Leno's garage. With more trucks.
Reality, I just want to get my truck drivable.

My brother's working on a DPW with swivel frame. He's a wild man.. Big time!
It's one of several DPWs that he owns. It runs in the family..
He's sometimes on the FTE super duty forum too. His tow vehicle is an American-made Ford.

BTW: Last I knew, he had a swivel mechanism (a high-quality reproduction) that he was willing to part with. That's assuming that one of you feels like another serious project.

OK, here goes. A '51 F4 to F6 , five star cab with a 9' flareside box, dana 70s front and rear. Cummins 5.9 twelve valve with a six speed manual. Oxidized paint. Hardest descision is dually or not. Dually cab and chassis axles are narrower and you'd need to tub the fender wells and I think you could use the wider fiberglass fenders marketed for wide rear tires. That would look the best, but couldn't haul plywood or fit my old camper. If I went with the dually pickup rear axle, I'd have the 50" between the wheel wells, but the fenders would be huge. Hmmmmmm, if money was no object, I wouldn't be hauling plywood any more (I'd be retired) and I could tow a fully restored vintage airstream instead of the old alaskan camper, so I go with the dually cab/chassis axle.

Mine is the truck I have! I have owned it 11 years now and last year I did a major overhaul. Pics are in the Gallery. I built it exactly to my tastes and for the way I want to use it. I had the funding to spend more, however I didn not want too, it suits me perfect.

1952 F1 - Highlight below:

Ford Racing 302
AOD Trans with Shift kit and 3000 stall converter
Disc brakes
A/C
Origianl Dana 44 converted to Posi, 3.92 origianl gearing (works great with AOD as I have the best of both. Fast off the line and cruised at 75 mph
Orginal suspension and steering
Torq Thurst 309 wheels (not yet installed. 15x7 in front and 15x8.5 in rear 235/60 tires front and 275/60 on rear

I am going to run the ***** out of it!

Bryan
