That's good information to keep about the early tonners.. I knew M-H did away with the mechanical brakes. An uncle told me about a couple of Fords that sit in NW S.D. I plan to take a look at them some time soon. Doubt they are M-Hs, but it doesn't hurt to check.

I want to know when you track down the others that were around your home town when you were a kid. And I'm glad to hear that life will soon let you start getting after your R32-4.

On a related, but different, note. Here's another Ford truck based woodie I came across Googling. Stu

wow - can't believe I've been on this forum for this long and never seen this thread.
Mine would be a 1948 Ford F-8 completely restored except some sort of brake system conversion/upgrade (i.e. modern 80,000# big rig air brake setup).
Original red, an extra layer of clear gloss all spiff
Lookin completely stock from the street, in the cab, and under the hood (ok to be dark behind the wheels and under the frame)
Basically take the big rig ad and bring it to life:

BTW, I am working on pulling the original ads off The Saturday Evening Post the above pic is from July 10, 1948 and is on page 55.
And I can testify/certify that it is an original print, taken into the Denver Public Library in July 1948 stamped when received and maintained in the DPL archives - no hearsay or friend of a friend info, 3rd party he said she said. I touched this ad with my own two hands.

Mine would be a '50 F1 lowered on a custom chassis with IFS and coil sprung rear end. 390 FE with a four speed and a 9" with 3.50 gears. I'm not sure what color yet. Maybe candy brandywine with gold base ghost flames.

I plan on starting this build this year.
