What Max Load do I need on tires?

I am researching new tires for my '06 SCAB F150 and have settled between a few tires I like. Two of them are 33x12.50 and one is 305/65R17 which is close to the same size. On the 33x12.50 tires the Max Load is 2600 pounds, but the 305 tire is 3195 pounds. Is that value actually going to affect anything in the day to day use of these tires? With my truck is 2600 plenty or do I need to worry about exceeding those numbers? Thanks.

If the max tire load is 2600 that is per tire so 2600x4=10,400 I do not think tires will be the bigest problem if you get that much GVW on a 150. I would not worry about that part but the road noise/confort level between the 2 would be my concern.

Is that max load going to affect the road noise and comfort directly, or do you just mean in general you would worry about that more than the load factor?

Some tires with higher load ratings will have stiffer sidewalls that will effect both raod noise and road feel. I do not think load rating itself should be an issue.

Ok, thanks for the info. The tires with the high load rating are BFG A/T KO so I don't think those have any problem with road noise or comfort.

does the load rating really take into account all 4 tires, seeing as that everything is in the bed of the truck. I Would have thought you would only add the two rears, seeing as you would never get an equal amount of weight on the steers.

In my very humble opinion either tire will probably do... but I'm one of those that believe it's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. In other words, I'd go with the higher rated tire.

Yes it does take into accout all 4 tires allthough I see your point the load on the fronts will never increase as wuch as that on the back but still better than 5000 form them to much for a 1/2 ton.
