Rod size and roller rockers?

i have a 93 ford f150 and its ticking so im planning on roller lifters and roller rockers for the weekend.i almost positive a lifter collapsed thus the lifters and roller rockers are just a little something because i can now im ordering from summit and i have some choices like 1.6 and such and rod size 7/16 or 3/8
does anyone know which i need and whether or not the 5.0 in my truck is roller or non roller?

you need pedestal mount rockers, or you going to have to pull the heads and have them machined for guide plates and studs......

I like to find the problem before I order parts...........................

A 93 5.0 should be a roller cam motor. To replace the roller lifters you need to pull the heads. Kinda a big job on a guess. Can you tell where the noise is coming from? Have you pulled a valve cover yet? Only time I have had a bad valve tick on one of my SBF's has been when the motors were badly sludged up, and were getting no oil to the top end.

i know pretty much the wrong way to go about this but i dont mind the work and its all the better anyways.thanks for the info, i ended up not ordering the roller rockers. plus this would give me an oppurtunity to see how well the guy "rebuilt" the motor before i bought the truck

I have a 92 roller motor and I don't have to pull the heads to change the roller lifters. I can pull them up and turn them to the side and they will come out.

he said 400 miles on it when i bought it. his work was a few miles down the road so it was belivable plus i think all the seal leaks show he did rebuild it just not paying attention to simple install procedures. im building a 351 stroked out to a 426 but until then the 5.0 needs to run good and pass emissions plus the motor will probably go into another project later so spending some cash wont hurt me any

A 93 has a roller cam. No need to pull the heads to change lifters, that was only necessary on the 85 5.0 heads. If you're going to buy roller lifters, go with Crane's Energizer 1.7's Part number is CRN-44746-16. These are the bolt on pedestal type full roller rockers. Pushrods you'll need are P/N # FMS-6565-L302 Lifters are P/N # FMS-6500-R302
