292 to 302 swap

I just pulled the 292 out of my 59 f-250. I need some help before I start buying things that I don't need or won't work. Summit sales the motor mount conversion for the 302 but does this address the rear bellhousing mount? Do I have to get a new bellhousing for the 302. The engine will be around an 85 0r 86 I think. I want to use the original 4 speed and it doesn't mount to anything but the bellhousing. Do I need to make/buy a special mount for the trans if I have to switch bellhousings. Please walk me through this if someone has done this. Do I need to cut/move/change the existing rear bellhousing mounts? Do I need to get a different clutch slave cylinder, throw-out bearing arm, flywheel, and starter? I know a lot depends on the bellhousing right? Anything else I haven't thought of or will run into? This is a new learning experience for me. If you wanna learn to swim, you gotta jump in first. Thanks everyone for your help so far.

Why not go with a 390 or 428? You can use the original motor mounts and trans mount with no modifications! You will need a bell housing out of a 61-66 with a 352 or 390 in it. Also a bell housing out of a 1 1/2 to 2 ton truck with a HD 292 will work. Ford made two different 292's. Your pickup bell has the top bolt holes at 7 1/2 inches across. The big trucks and the 61-66 352/390 has a bell with a 6" bolt pattern. This a direct bolt up with no modifications!! I installed a 400HP 390 in a 59 panel with 59 F250 4x4 running gear! A simple swap of the bolts and your ready to go. Hope this helps.

Universal transmission mounts are available from several of the IFS kit companies. Try www.fatmanfab.com If you call them they will take time to answer your questions.

Thanks charles

Sorry I forgot you were trying to retain the original trans. There is a bellhousing that was made around 65-66 that would bolt to late model 6 bolt block and it had a dual pattern transmision pattern. I think that it used the tail shaft mount though. Sorry I'm not much help with this. You might need to ask a more specific question. See if there was a 240 6 cyl that used your transmission and was mounted at the bellhousing. That would be the bellhousing you would need I believe. Sorry if I have confused you more.

Thanks Charles

Thanks anyway Charles. But yep, that's my main issue. How do I keep the original trans? I'd like to know from anyone who's done this before. What did they do? Unfortunately I don't have the 302 at my house yet.(NO ROOM) So I can't really look at it an see how things bolt up to it.
