Which Line for Transmission Oil Filter

I recently purchased a 6.0 transmission oil cooler and want to install an in-line filter. I assume the filter should be in the incoming line to the cooler but which side is that on the cooler?

Alvin,

When I did this to mine, I took some photos of the project. If you are interested in doing it similarly, the photos are in my gallery.

SpringerPop thanks for the reply but it really didn't answer my question. Looking at the front of the truck do I install the filter on the line on the left or right?

ford recomends to install the filter on thereturn line but you will filter the fluid better by installing the filter on the line entering the cooler. the front line on the tranny is the out and the rear line is in.
