I would like to install a in line filter on the transmission as the 06 Escape transmissions don't have internal transmissions. Can anyone tell me which line is the return from the cooler? Thanks
Tom, thanks for the info. I didn't want to mess up the flow and damage the transmission.
Bryan
You can install it in either line to the transmission; but, installing it on the output line before the fluid cooler can be more efficient because you will trap finer particulates in suspension due to the heat from the operating transmission and it will prevent clogging of the cooler. Flow is a result of pressure on a fluid that has little or no restriction, pressure in the transmission is results from the internal pump. You won't mess up flow in either location. Here's a link to the description of how I installed a B&M external oil filter on my transmission.
