How do you know there is a pump in the tank? ....because there isnt...
The framerail-mounted pump is the only pump on a stock system, it pulls fuel from the tank, and pushes it up to the engine, through the fuel filter and reguator, and into the cylinder heads.
wow dont i feel like a Jack-A$$. i have been reading about all these mods people do to their fuel systems and i got confused. well anyways, what would be the advantage to upgrading the pump to lets say a F.A.S.S. pump and then putting on a regulator? do you have to run a reg?

Don't fee bad. A lot of stuff to learn about these trucks and it's all right here on this site. The only in-tank pump I know of is being run by Kwik. And he put it there.
Some are running a Carter "lift pump" as close to the tank as possible. It feeds the OE pump with high volume, low pressure.
