Check engine light ON!
Hello everyone and I know you have had this question before but I'm posting it again after a short search.
My check engine light is on and I need to know what tool or how I retrieve trouble codes? I am somewhat familiar with OBDII and gas power rigs but lack in PSD. I notice a lot of members fixing these truck themselves with member help and I have the guts just need help with the glory.
I bought this truck a 1997 F350 PSD automatic from shady used car lot. It has ute. bed and liftgate so I was willing to take a chance. 109k miles, runs good but uses more fuel than PSD I had in the past. I noticed after I got the truck home that when I turned the key to on position , no check engine light. I took dash apart and sure enough the blub was burned out(from being on all the time?) I installed a new bulb and it is bright and burning away all the time.
Thank you for your help in advance and any help is apperciated.
Mike

To pull codes from our trucks you need a scanner that can read Ford Enhanced Codes. There are quite a few out there, but they are pricey. Some have had good luck with thier local Autozone/Advance/NAPA/etc. I would try these first, as they will read your codes for free. If they cannot read them, I would suggest to then find a diesel repair shop.
