Hey check these out

Over the last week and 1/2 I've taken the bed off my truck, sandblasted, and repainted the rear undercarage.

HUGE project but I got it done in a fairly short amount of time. Took about 8-10 hours of work almost every day to get this done. Not to mention it was the hottest week of the summer.

More in my gallery.

The two rear leaf spring brackets were replaced, one shackle was replaced, I almost re-did the entire fuel supply system with a rear 33 gal bronco tank, new pump/sending unit, and new front tank/pump/sending unit....but it would of cost about $700+ and I don't have the cash. I'll do it at a later time. I also re-painted the exhaust with another coat of high temp black paint. I did it about 2 years ago when the exhaust was installed but it needed it again.

I also replaced about 6-7 feet of brake line going to the rear that needed to be switched out. This is the line that usually goes first on our trucks. Also threw in a new fuel filter while I was there.

I'm going to sandblast some spots under the bed and paint under the bed...and throw it back on.

Then next week it heads to the body shop to get new paint and rust repair. The rear wheel wells are rotted out and I have some rust in other small spots too.

Hey Mustang, I'm in the process of doing the same thing with my F150. Your work looks top notch. Short of having a sand blaster, a power brush will be my means to rust removal. My bed is too rusted out to use anymore, so I'm playing with ideas of what to put back on it.

I did exactly the same thing early this summer when I had my bed off. I used a descaler though cause my truck wouldn't fit in my sandblasting booth. Neighbours only called the cops twice for that. Still have to replace the wheel well's but the frame looks good. Your's looks good too, great work.

I just did mine in the backyard with a large plastic tarp under it to collect the majority of the sand. I only used 2 1/2 bags of sand (black beauty) because I kept recycling it. Worked very well.

I bought the truck from NH and it was a bit rusty compaired to other trucks I'd seen. So since I've had it for the last 4 years or so I've been concerned about the rust back there and finally took care of it for good. I had done the axle and side of the frame at one point about 2-3 years ago but it wasn't much good now so I re-did everything and now I'm glad because I know everything has been gone through....esp replacing those rotted suspension brackets.

For bed ideas...you could do just about anything...make a thread about it looking for input but you could do any kind of utility style or flatbed...anything...my uncle did a pressure treated wood bed on his 79' that came out pretty good but it was only a farm truck/plow truck.

That does look really good man! Zenford, I'd put a flatbed on my F-150 if it's bed was rusted to hell. Unless you can find another bed in a junkyard that's it really good shape...

Nice job!!

Wanna do mine?

What's that shock that goes from the top of the spring pack to the frame about 2 feet forward?

That is a traction bar setup, not a shock.

I just did the bed and the bed is about to go on, but the bed is in good shape so I just wire brushed any small rust spots, sprayed them with rust remover to oxidize it, then I'm going to paint it with some special rust paint also from Hirsch Auto (miracle paint) that is pretty much the same as POR15. Only touch ups are necessary on the bed.

Hey bring your truck on over I'll do it...

(hmm, 8 hrs per 13 days times $60/hr equals....oh boy!)

Man, I wish I had the time to do that to my truck. But I gotta get another ride before any major fix-ups like that since my old girl is my daily driver.

Good job... looks sharp
