98 F-150 running rough - trouble codes...

98 F-150 5.4 - It runs rough and I can smell raw fuel out the exhaust. I scanned codes and I get this:
P3101 - can't find any info on this code.
P0009 - Engine position system Perf bank2
P0303 - cylinder #3 misfire

I would appreciate any help you guys can offer! Where do I start from here? We just spent $2k in January to have the passenger side head replaced because of a valve pulling into the head, I would like to try to tackle this problem myself and save some dough.

Thanks!

Cop, stands for coil on plug. Steven@nd means replace the coil. I also suggest checking the plug.

Thanks for the help, seems like a reasonable place to start...

BUT how do I get the coil pack off? There are fuel lines, etc. in the way and I can't get a wrench or socket on the bolt to remove the coil pack...

And where is #3 on these engines? 3rd back on driver's or passenger's side?

a 1/4 inch drive 7mm swivel socket snap on has a shallow one that works good if you dont have one you will have to remove the fuel rail and move it out of the way

3 back pass side you wont have to remove the fuel rail on that side just move the heater and pcv hoses also ck the hose clamps on the heater hose as thay are sometimes loose and allow coolant to leek on to the #3 cop and shorts it out

There is a complete set of instructions "skickied" at the top of this forum.

If, after reading them, you still have questions, go for it.

Thanks for the help and suggestions! I am going to tackle taking it apart this morning. If I can manage to get it apart, I'll be heading to town for the parts.

Put a new spark plug in #3 and it runs fine. Plug was oil fouled, really bad. Evidently it's getting to be time for major engine work.

Thanks for the help!!
