71-72 Grille Inserts

I recently saw a pair of 71 grilles inserts for sale. They were listed as stainless steel, after checking them out I found that they were actually plastic as they should be, but had a stainless cover or cap on the leading edge. Was this a dealer dress up item? Aftermarket? Did anyone buy a 70-72 truck new and have this feature?

Thanks, Harold

71-72 Grille Inserts

All '71 Fords had that trim on the plastic i am sure. After the 70 they probably thought lets dress up those waffle irons!
Also,
The '71-72 grille shell are different. The mounting tabs for the grilles are deeap and the 70 shell has shallow tabs.
