Forgive all the eBay posts, but I can't help but think someone might want to grab this, especially since I hear the plastic inserts are hard to find. Again, it's not my auction. $345 brings it to your door:

I'd buy a new grille shell if, I needed one but maybe some young man want to spend hrs polishing it up. Boy that's a dirty job to do..

But the inserts are a hard find tho.

The cost of $141 seems a lot for shipping.
I think the guy who shipped me my 68 metal grille charged $40 or so from Canada.

 

After buying a new grille. I sold my old 71 grille about 7 yrs ago, the cheapest shipper was Gray Hound bus. The buyer had to go pick it up tho. It was like 4 states away from Ca. and it cost was $78 bucks.
And the two big shipper want over $100 for the same item back then

I've been shipping grilles for 10 years. The 70-72 grilles cost less to ship then the 67-69 grilles.
I have perfected my packing method for both, dimension guidelines and safety of my grilles. With around 500 grilles shipped, I've never had one damaged yet.
When people package grilles of any kind, they don't ask the shipper what's the max length and girth allowed before paying oversize. Or maybe they do and charge the buyer the oversize fee.
From coast to coast maybe $100.00 for a 67-69 for a 70-72 about $80.00
I normally charge a flat $85.00 and that includes insurance and a custom made box.
I won't ship via Greyhound, it might be cheaper but to me, not safer.

 

I shipped my old grille in the shipping carton my new grille came in from NPD.
It was well pack in two halves of molded foam. This was when everyone added fuel tax to drop off point.

It seems the shipping scale rates floats around over the past few yrs.
