My brother in-law is a bit computer illiterate and asked for some help for info on this truck. He is a great mechanic and the truck is nice but he can’t find much on the value. Can anyone help?

72 ford F100 Ranger XLT short wide box dark blue metallic .blue interior with some restorations .engine 390 4 barrel duel exhaust with GT heads heavy duty connecting rods.. has 30,000 mi with heavy-duty C6 trans. 325 limited slip 31spline rear axles .auxiliary 25-gallonfuel tank alloy wheels this truck is equipped with a heavy duty tow package.

Who's we? I like talking trucks. Steve it's really hard to say w/o seeing the truck. The condition of the body has a great deal to do with value. If it's rusty it's not worth a whole lot even in good mechanical condition. Maybe $1200-$1800 tops. If the body is pretty straight, rust free but not perfect and the mechanicals are in top shape I would say $2500-$3500. If the truck is top notch inside and out and a real good driver $3500-$5000. If it's nicer than that like a show truck it could be worth more like $6000-$8000. Again it's hard to say w/o seeing the truck. These numbers are just a guide and only my opinion from what I have seen. Could be more could be less but I would say it would fall in one of the ranges somewhere. It also depends on where you are and what the market is like. There is also a "Truck Buyer Guide" subject on this site that you may get some more info from. Hope this helps.

I forgot I do have pics. I just am not into cars so it was hard for me to help him find the info. I did nto knwo where to look. The guy is a perfectionist and the work he does is great. I don't think he did everyting on the truck but I bet there is nothing really wrong with it. he is the type that you have to make sure your shoes are clean and nothing bangs the car and you don't slam the doors (G)

That a nice looking F-100 short bed. Start searching on eBay and maybe you can come up with a value.

 

I would put it in the $2500-$3500 range IF it rust free inside, out and undernieth. Please don't take this as gospel. It's just one guy's opinion. A guy that hasn't seen the truck in person. Looks like a real nice one!

We have often discussed this and will in the future and that is fine. In the past, someone pointed me to www.nadaguides.com. They give market prices for the older vehicles including 1972 Ford Trucks. Very helpful to give you an idea of worth based on condition. I have found the nadaguides site much more helpful(translated: realistic to me) than Kelly Blue Book. The prices sometimes give you a little warm fuzzy feeling that you may be able to get out of the truck at least what you have in it. You can say to your spouse, See this is a really solid investment! The only interest may be yours but at least on paper you are not losing a lot of money. Keep in mind I have never sold or tried to sell or buy anything at these quoted prices. I do have a couple of older vehicles that I plan to sell but they are not Fords. I plan on using the nadaguides.com site to kind of figure out how to price then and maybe test the waters on Ebay or Hemings Motor News. It is hard to figure value on Ebay because often the vehicle advertized goes off auction because time is up and the threshold price was not met. So, you never even know what the guy or gal was minimally asking. Hemings Motor News is another possiblity to see what is being sold, although I have never checked out their site.

She's a dark blue painted truck, long box, regular cab, 302, 100hp. I built a wooden canopy for it too.

My dream truck is actually an '88 power ram, but my f100 is a great truck, and my first.
