F-250 non super duty ?????
Hi,
I am looking at a 2001 used f-250 4x4 lariat truck.
To my surprise, it looks like an F150 not a F250 super duty.
Do they make a non super duty F250? I was searching on Kelley Blue book to find a value but F250 always comes up with super duty.
If it is not a super duty then where can I find specs on it?
Thanks .... Mike

I answered your duplicate post in the Super Duty forum, and was going to suggest that you post up about your prospective truck on this sub forum, as here is where the owners of similar trucks are.
I was also thinking of another possibility:
You are looking at a 2001 F150 "7,700" GVWR... which is an F150 with seven lugs, formerly badged by Ford as an F250, and rebadged by a previous owner as an F250, but technically sold by Ford in 2001 as an F150.
In otherwords, while Ford dropped the "F-250" designation for the 7,700 lb. GVWR pickup in 1999, that capacity pick up itself (including the 7 lug wheels) still carried over in model year 2001, only it was called an F150, not an F250.
So if you want to see the Kelly Blue Book value, then use 2001 F150, and select 7,700 GVWR.

to answer that part of your question, ford did make a non superduty f-250 for a few years that looked like a 10th generation f-150. the main reason was to hold it over from redesigning the f-150 for 97 to introducing the superduty for 99, they made what you ask about, these were called f-250 light duty, accompanying a heavy duty f-250 and f-250 carrying over in 97 with the old body.
however, these light duty f-250s were only made through 97-98 with a smaller number of 99s. (the old style carryover heavy duty only made it through 97). they had no reason to keep making them as f-250s, being that the superduty series was brought out for 99.
they did continue to make what was essentially these f-250s, but with the superduty out they were now a heavy duty package offered on the f-150, called the 7700.
I'm almost certain a 2001 would not be an f-150 style 250. I don't know how far you've looked into this truck but I can only guess it's a misidentification, perhaps it has panels and/or badges from one of those trucks for some reason, I'd hazard guessing it could be a 7700 package that as I mentioned essentially continued the f-250 light duty.
for what it's worth, both the F-250 light duty from the late 90s and their f-150 7700 brethren have 7 lug wheels, this is the major feature besides correct emblems that sets them apart from the regular f-150, which have 5 lug wheels in these years. if it helps, I'll attach a picture of a 97-98 f-250 light duty, the 7-lug wheels she has are the most common (I think only) stock wheels on these and the f-150 7700. the true tell-tale is the 7 lugs wheels.
hope I was able to help
