My Individually Lighted Position Display for the Chip
#16
That is a great idea.
I have been thinking of a similar one, but using an led strip similar to the green odometer in some of the trucks. In using one of Jody's five position chips, you could have the read out such as:
1 NORMAL
2 HIGH IDLE
3 ECON TOW
4 POWER TOW
5 INSANE
The read out would be controlled by the switch. I made a stip like this a while back for a friend who was building a rod and wanted the PRND21 to read Park, Reverse, Neutral ect. The rest of the dash was digital, but not the selector. It was quite easy to do. Just wonder how hard it would be to convert the switch to do the same.
If you had a manual, it could be mounted in the cluster where the PRND21 indicator for the auto is or just above it if you have an auto. I have had the speedo out of my sd (what a pita, burned out bulb) and there is plenty of space.
