Exhaust Headers

Are any of the ford cast exhaust as good as the performance you could get from a se of headers? Same for intake, that the aluminimu one that much better then an aftermarket one. Thanks

if you have an engine built to take advantage of them headers and alum, intake will show big gains over stock parts.

The only dual exhaust manifolds Ford made for trucks are Rams Horns, car versions wont clear the linkages on the drivers side. Reds and Sanderson make headers, possibly others.

There are all sorts of aluminum intakes for Y's; some bad, some good, one very good but pricey. What are you trying to accomplish? The 57 and later stock Ford ECZ 9425-B 4 bbl intake is very good and can approach the best with some rework.

That is what I needed to know. I had the motor rebuilt for fast street performance with a mid range aggresive cam and the high ratio rockers on a big valve head. I think I have what I need in the 4bbl intake you guys (9425-B) mentioned and since I am using a rack and pinion front end I am not worried about clearing the exhaust manifold. I have the biggest, high flowing ones made. What do you guys think? Ed

Mock up that drivers side manifold before you go too far. There is a lot of stuff in the way, steering is the least of it.

Some time ago someone referred to a flow comparison between Ram's Horn and passenger car style dual ex. manifolds. Does anyone know about that study, and how the two types of manifolds ended up performing?

Sanderson headers makes a Y Block header called FF2 $265.00 (steel) $415.00 (ceramic coated) looks like the ticket for headers.
