Throttle Body Injection TBI

Throttle Body Injection TBI
Hey guys. I know it has been a long time but I am back from Iraq now and getting restarted on my truck. The motor is back from the shop and now its time to decide on the fuel system. Is there a TBI out there on a truck or car that will fit on a 4V Y-block intake and work? I do not want to spend big bucks on an aftermarket one. Any help would be appreciated. BTW I tried to do a search and it kept going to the blank page. Thanks

I've thought about this, and what I came up with was to use a Ford TBI that is like a 2v Holley. Can't recall whether it was EEC III or EEC IV, tho. You'd need the modern distributor to convert it to electronic, and you'd use the control module and all the stock Ford sensors, along with fuel pump, etc.
2nd idea was to use the GM 2v TBI, but I really don't like that kind of stuff on a Y. It is bad enough to confess I'm using a GM alternator...
What I'd really like would be for someone to make a lower manifold for the Y, along with the 4 fuel rails it would take, along with the attendent plumbing, and sell this as a kit, which would use the Mustang 5.0 port injection top and hardware. You'd just get the whole setup from a donor and bolt it on the new lower manifold, going with all 5.0 stuff as far as sensors, module, electronics, and whathaveyou. Too bad it probably wouldn't fit under a T Bird hood, or it would become a natural.

Sounds good but I was hoping that an EFI off of a 351 or other Ford would bolt onto either a 2V or 4V y-block intake. It fits holleys and other carbs so it bugs me that it will not fit a Ford TBI. I will keep looking. In fact I am going to a local salvage yard today so I will discuss it with them. Ed

That is what I am talking about. I cannot recall if the throttle body injection came on 351s or 302s, or maybe both. If you are interested in doing this, a trip to the library will tell you what you need to know. However, Ford had a TBI that was like a 1v carb, and a second one that was like a 2v carb. The 2v model had the same bold pattern as a Holley 2300 or an Autolite 2100 2v carb, so it would fit the 2v Y Block manifold. The control module was either EEC III or EEC IV. Before running off to the wrecking yard and buying something, I'd highly suggest that you study what you are going to get, because there are going to be other sensors beside the TBI and the control module that you will need to make the system work. You're also going to need as much of the wiring loom as you can get, because whatever you don't get, you will have to make up. You are going to need a fuel pump, too, which is unlike what is on the Y Block. There have been a number of articles in Street Rodder and other automotive mags, telling how to do this for the GM system. You will need to do a similar thing for transplanting the Ford system. However, I cannot imagine how you will be successful, unless you know what all you will need and how it works, which is why I suggest studying first and heading for the wrecking yard second.

Ford, and Merc also used Throttle body 83-85 EEC III. The bolt pattern is the same for 2V Holley. I went backwards and put a Holley on a TB manifold, Changed over to a mech fuel pump. The VV carb also has the same bolt pattern. At this age the injectors my be a little worn causing poor gas mileage.
