Question '97 F150 4.2 IAC needs cleaning?????

Anyone know how to clean an IAC? I miss the old days when a set of points and condensor would fix about anything.

Exclamation

First, disconnect the negative battery post. Then,if you remove the IAC very carefully you can reuse the gasket.Get some throttle body cleaner and spray the valve full of the spray.Let it set for a few, then rinse it out.Work the spring/plunger to get the carbon off the seating area. While you're at it clean the throttle body too.Re-install,hook up the battery and go for a ride to let the computer re-learn the engine.
