C6/AOD option in Bronco's?

Was there an option on which transmission was factory installed in Bronco's and F150 4X4's? I bought a 351W engine and transmission from a 89 Bronco and the transmission is a C6. I thought all of the Bronco's from that era would have been AOD's. I looked at at 89 or 90 F150 4X4 in a salvage yard and it also was a C6 instead of an AOD. Since I've been looking for another AOD transmission I figured that all of the late 80's were AOD but now I'm finding otherwise.

the AOD was never offered behind the 5.8. only the C6 up till 89-90 with the e40d. now i have an AOD behind my 5.8 but that is because i originally had a 302. just so you now if you want an AOD behind that motor you will need flexplate from a 80's crownvictoria that had an AOD/5.8 combo. that was the only rig running this setup. dont get the car aod either wont work

Will the flexplate I got with the 89 351W/C6 only work with a C6? What about the torque converter that came with it? Will it only work with the C6 or can it be used with the flexplate from a Crown Victoria 351W/AOD or should I get the torque converter/flexplate from the Crown? I want to convert my 90 Bronco to a 351W but I'd much rather use the AOD (after I rebuild it) for it's overdrive at highway speeds.

the flexplate from the c6 will not fit. the torq convert wont fit either. that stuff is tranny specific.

get any 4wd aod torq converter and the crownvic aod flexplate. do a search on here for proper part number. new is like 50 bucks so dont get a used one. they tend to give you the wrong ones.
