New Ford 3.5L Engine

New Ford 3.5L Engine
Ford’s new V-6 produces 250 horsepower and 240 pound-feet of torque with a 3.5-liter displacement unit with a height and width that is the same as Ford’s smaller Duratec 3.0 V-6. This enables Ford to install the engine in a wide variety of current and future products.
Well it looks like Ford has finally finished tweaking things and is ready to start mass-producing the new 3.5L engine which will be powering a whole array of different models. A whole lot will be riding on this engine (both literally and figuratively). It sounds like it has everything that people are craving for (read: power and good gas mileage) which should put it in a position to challenge the higher end VWs, Toyotas and Nissans of the world. I like the fact that Ford is taking dead aim at its competitors with this engine. Let's just hope that no inherent flaws exist so that it can live up to it's promise.

250hp/240tq is the type of breakdown I see with FWD stuff, not Exploders and Rangers.
If Ford gets rid of the current 4.OHC engine and its timing chain setup issues as well and bores/strokes that D-tec into the low to mid 4 liter range, then it should fit in the Ranger at least. A 3.5L in the bloated Exploders we have now....yeah right. May as well stay with the 4.6L as the only option in that case. Then again, that's called an Expedition--to a point.
