Were you driving it, or just sitting in the drive?

Water leak in Cab

Mine does the same thing. When it rains I get a little water running down inside the cab on the pass and drivers' side. I'm pretty sure it's coming from the cowl. I just have no idea how to get to the weather stripping that's there I think you need to take the dash out....anyone else have any ideas?

Mine leaked past the gasket where the wiper shaft goes through the body. It was an easy fix. I hope you guys find something simple like that; leaks can be a big pain.

I've had the same problem on the right side. Thought it might be the windshield seal but that would probably have to show on the dash. Might be a crack in the cowl inlet assembly but that windshield wiper seal sounds like a good bet. Can you remove the wiper, unscrew a nut and get to the seal?

Thanks,

6t6merc, I brought this back up to ask what the gasket looks like and how to access it. The windshield wiper shaft gasket that is. Ford dealer cannot find a picture. I'm trying to figure out what's involed in replacing the seal and making or buying them.

Actually I think I found what I need in the Obsolete Ford Parts catalog. It's on page 107 0f my "obsolete 1996" catalog. Called wiper pivot shaft to cowl top seal. Part #D3TZ-17A475-A @ $3.95 eash (old price). They are round and slanted on one end and go on from the outside I believe.
I'll try to get with them next week to see if they are still available.

Thanx,
Bear Tracks

Water leak in Cab

i had 2 78 supercabs in the past that had the same problem. it was leaking from the upper most corner of the windshield down to the bottom were there was a rust hole and the water came in the cab under the dash. my left foot always got wet. so i pulled back the rubber seal on the windshield and shot a bunch of black silicone in. stopped the water problem but not the rust.

on my 77 there are two rubber plugs about 2 inches in diameter way up under the dash that keep rain out of cab.they are right below the post next to windshield. they get brittle with age and start to leak
