I have a '79 F150 4x4 with 15" wheels and the stock suspension. I have done the measurements around the tire well and it looks like I can safely use a 31x10.5 tire, definitely a 30x10.5 would work but does anyone have the same truck and has used the 31x10.5's?? Also, was it an option to have dual front shocks? I can't remember seeing it on other 1/2 ton's, anyone know? Thanks!

I had a 79 with 31 x 10.50 x 15 on it and had no problems at all. I didn't have a lift either, it was stock. I ended up having to get a wider wheel though. I believe you need at least an 8 inch wide wheel to run that size tire.
AKFord,
You can run 33s with stock suspension.Been
there done that. You may run into some slight rubbing
on the radius rods with 8 inch rims and 4 inches
of back spacing.
I've been running Winston Fun and Mud 31"/11.5 /15 with an 8" wheel since 1978 with no problem. Did try a 32" once and chewed up wheel wells in front when off road. But I swear by these Winstons, and they are the only ones I have found who offer a 31" 11.5. Just make sure your front springs are in good condition and don't sag. I did have to replace the front springs after about 20 years.
I run 31/10.5/15 on 7 inch factory wheels on my 78 Bronco... which is the same as your pickup down there. I replaced the front springs with HD springs years ago, which forced me to lift the rear about 2". I have no problems at all.
