Latest on the 511 project...
I decided to make some changes to the 511 that should let it breathe better up in the RPM range that it likes to live. I have been told by many knowledgeable people that I was choking the top end with my cam and carb selection, so I'm doing them now, and I'm also going to port my manifold to exactly match the heads I have.
First the carb. I called Patrick James at Pro Systems. I was told he is the guy to buy carbs from, since He would match it to your engine/vehicle/use. So I went to his website, pro-system.com, to check it out. Well, I guess He knows what He's talking about, after all, He builds carbs for some VERY well known names, like Kenny Koretsky, Billy Glidden, Jeg Coughlin, and similar. He gets all my info, and says He'll build me a big 'ol Dominator, custom tuned to my app, with all the goodies, just bolt it on and go. Best thing is, it's only $100 more than a box-stock 1150 from Summit. Here's his reply:
"Our XC Dominator is the best way to go for your
combination. It's priced at $890.00 It has a true
race fuel curve, our Red CNC Billet boosters (to
amplify signal and aid in launch, throttle response
and shift recovery) they have our adjustable air bleed
configuration, non-stick gaskets, off road floats,
hi-flow needle and seats, a complete wet-flow
portfolio, a real sharp piece. You can spray it up to
a 350 shot if the need arises.
So don't worry about the carb, I'll have my end done.
It'll flow in the 1060 to 1100 REAL cfm range (I'll
know more when I'm flowing it for the application).
We don't have part numbers and each one is built just
foryour program. So I just need about 5-7 days to
get one built."
As for the manifold, it is currently gasket matched, but it still has much smaller ports than the heads, so I'm gonna open them up to match. The ports in the head are so big that the porting in the manifold is going to break through into the pushrod holes, so I'll have to sleeve them. I'm also going to do the machine work to open the carb flange up to Dominator size at the same time.
I also just received my new cam. It's a Comp Cams custom ground roller that is just a little bigger, and on a tighter LSA than my original cam:
304/310 adv
266/272 .050
.700/.711 lift
108 LSA
104 CL
It should REALLY make the HP up top.
Sooooo, that is what I'll be doing for the next couple of months.

Customer Service
Hey Scouder,
Now that is what I like to read when it comes to customer service. Pro Systems seems like HIGH quality... I am interested to see what new hp numbers your monster pulls now???
Keep us informed...I'm especially interested in the new carb setup...
OBTW...how did your Demon perform? Easy of tuning, quality, etc. (just curious)

Good to hear from you again. How's that monster of yours doing? BTW I have a copy of the famous Blazer dragging video. Very classy!
I have the FE Victor, by the way.

Doing good. I had to upgrade my axles to the larger chromoly 35 spline stuff and CTM's $$$. My big project this summer has been building my shop, then I can get crazy. I figured you had to have the victor since its the best choice, but thought I'd check. It sure is nice to see a motor like yours...some folks need to be reminded that fear starts with FE
