Shock mounts(quad)???
I have a 79 Bronco with quad shocks and I was just wondering which shock was the standard one(I think it's the one behind the coil spring).
I was wondering if anyone has taken off one of the shock mounts and only used one shock.
How much difference would there actually be with only one shock instead of 2 at each front corner?

Now i wondered that myself some time ago. I have an 82' w/ the TTB front end and Ive been told that the one behind the shock is your main shock and the front is auxilary. Not need for the front one unless hard offroading is being done. I thought about switching to quad, but have since been talked out of it.

I actually had one tear out of the mount on my quad shock F-150. I'm currently running two shocks on the left front, and one shock on the right front. No problems. The rear shock is the shock installed on single shock frontend trucks, although I'm sure you could run either the front or the rear.

To add just another $0.02 to this thread, I actually ended up removing the two auxillary (in front of the spring) shocks after I lifted my 92 because the ride just got ridiculously stiff with such better springs and shocks. The two additionals were actually reducing the response of the front suspension. Thankfully, the 93 only has two up front.

When I bought my rig (89 351 3" Rancho lift) the rear shockes on the front quad were both broke snapped off at the bottom just hanging their. Drove for a month like that. then I replaced all new front shocks and I could not tell any difference in the drive. It really p'ed me off to spend all that money. So I guess you could say the the fronts of the quad are plenty.
