1956 F-100, FE 390/C6 Radiator choice
Looking for advice on radiator choice for my project F-100 pickup. It has a rebuilt, "mildly warmed" FE 390 with C6 transmission. Engine compartment uses the stock radiator surround. Only mods are Cordoba IFS TB front suspension and front tilt hood. I do not think either will affect radiator choice. I have available a seperate transmission cooler. No A/C (yet) but maybe in the future. My drivng will be at altitude, 4700', foothills, mountains on the east side of the Sierras. Would welcome others experience with radiators who's "footprint" might be suitable. I have seen like F-100's who said they used a Ford Country Squire radiator.

Welcome to the board!!!
When I was searching for a radiator for my 49 I used the links below, they allow you to scroll through databases of radiator data (sometimes a bit tedious) for different vehicles. You can generally get the dimensions of the core, brackets, etc, as well as the postion and diameter of the inlets and outlets. After I found a make and model that worked for my application I entered that info into the database of the local parts store and had them order me a radiator. (mine ended up being a mid 70's dodge truck)
Here' the radiator links;

http://www.radiatorbarn.com/
http://www.usradiator.com/
Then you can use these links for a local supplier (maybe)

I'm sure one of the wizards with a truck like yours will be along shortly to give up some advice also
Again, Welcome
Bobby

Radiator for F-100
...thanks for the response. Can you elaborate on your radiatior choice! Do you have a model number I can give to my local radiator shop [LRS]. Had received info off net that a "Modine 522" would fit right in. Application said to be a "UPS Truck". LRS could not find it in catalog and he will call Modine tech rep Monday. I like the description of yours though, suggests more cooling capacity.

Here is Mattson web site. Give them a call. They do most of the Hot Rods in So Cal area and have a good rep. Very helpful. you can also get custom shrouds made here. Note: if this link doesn't work by clicking, copy and paste into your address line.
