Has anyone turbo-ed a 390 FE??
I have a F-250 4x4 highboy with a 390 in it, and I know I read a hotrod article years ago about a twin turbo 390 FE (aluminum block and heads), but does anyone here have or know of a turbo FE. I would consider a supercharger too, but my experience is that turbos are a bit cheaper to set up. Anyone make kits, both supercharger and turbo?

There is some interesting info in this thread:

You can fabricate most turbo's to suit. As for a blower that suits an FE, no doubt there are some around, just I am not aware of any.
Someone else may chime in though with manufacturers that make them.

Skinsey What size turbo do you have on there it looks a little smallfor a 390.I had a H2E Holset on my sons 355 c.... truck.Had a smaller garret on it first way tomuch boost 21lb that is with the waste gate opening quick the boost was to hot. When I went with the h2e boost went down to 11 to 12lblot cooler boost and ran alot better alot less spark knock.Had a msd boost retard box on too.have that for sale put a snow water injection. When that comes on it feals like your hitting the nitirus alot cheaper window washer fluid.Watch your headers thats the way I made mine they will get cherry red at each port will get thin at those spots. You are dowing a good job. Keep it up.WE had the Holley projection the big one.Good luck

wrap all of ur exhaust up to the turbo since heat is what helps spool it up not just air flow also i would use a deisel muffler or at least a straight thro so that theres not back pressure holding the turbo from spooling fast u would have enough from the turbo to save ur valves so thats not an issue

I hope you guys are building up the bottom end a bit. Standard FE blocks tend to split around 650hp and 650ft-lbs. Truck blocks with higher strength metal alloys and extra main webbing tend to work real good. Look for a mirror image "105" where the "352" would normally be, or get me the casting number if you're not sure what you have.
