i've got a leaking and hose problem

the other night when i came home, i noticed that it was raining coolant from underneath my motor. i replaced the waterpump and it's gaskets. now, i think it's called the bypass hose, is squirtin outta both ends where the clamps are. i noticed that the bottom radiator hose goes into this metal type housing and then the bypass hose comes out and into the water pump. can i just run the bottom radiator hose into the water pump (given it clears the fan)? or do i need to run it the way the factory had it set up? thanks for any help in advance!!

well, im not sure what your saying, cause im not seein it in my head, but if at all possible, keep it the way the factory did. if they could have taken a shortcut and left a part or hose off, they would have, so id say you need it for somthing.
