thet are a total waste of cash to put on a 3valve as the stock cast iron pieces flow just as well and was proven on a dyno by 6 pulls each before and after.
now on a 2 valve i bet you would see a very big difference.

the 05/6 vans and expo's use the old 2 valve motor even still have the reduced y pipe i doubt you could even get the 3 valve pipe to bolt up. plus you sure don't want to buy one as i did after we cut them for the deep big name alloy trans pan. list price is $1285.00 plus a $15.00 gasket to the front pipe. my cost was still $965.00 and 7% sales tax.

Actually Wetter's pics show a completely different Y-pipe on the vans.

And Charlie, expo's are Expeditions (soccer mom car) and eX's are Excursions ...or soccer dad truck.

Updated the F250/350 V10 exhaust gallery with Charlie's pics of the 2005+ exhaust system and headers so they'd all be in one place for comparisons:

NoMo the only thing that you are missing is the Y pipe that was on the 99,00 and early 01 trucks. I had one on my 00 and Ford changed it to the late 01 pipe and it made a difference in performance. I could fell it when I picked up the truck plus it was a lot quieter (no more flutter).

Denny, your y-pipe was different than the one in the upper picture, bottom one?

Denny, the bottom pipe should be the one you originally had and the top one the new pipe they installed.

If anyone has pics of a different factory system (or just better pics), send 'em to me and I'll add them to the gallery.

Its the one on the bottom (the rams horn style). And it was on the early 2001 trucks also.

Nomo, the e-bay y-pipe guy has good pics of old and new style pipes on his e-bay listings.

Wink V10 Y-pipe

Good information and pics. Had recent leak repair at the flange connection on my 02 V10. The repair shop commented on the restricted y-pipe..."don't change it out as it will affect the tuning". It may be good advice, but its ugly! Currently have 99K and have been watching those manifold bolts cautiously. If failure occurs a Banks system may be in order after reading these threads.

The only effect on the "tuning" will be much better throttle response. You MIGHT get some "flutter" in the exhaust, but to me it just sounds like a mean engine

I did see the post about the flutter noise but this is more like a whistling noise you can notice it after about 30 mph and sounds like its on the drivers side. Thanks in advance

I was wondering what that annoying "fluttery/rattley" noise was !!! I just bought my 2000 F350 V10 4x4 a few weeks ago and I noticed when I give it more throttle there is a funny noise like what you have described. Thanks for answering my question before I had a chance to ask it !
