6.8L V10 Excursion Full exhaust?

I am only finding exhausts that are the rear section and a muffler. What's available for a complete Y-pipe back kit?

I've been on here almost 4 years and have never heard of one.

Wouldn't be hard to just make your own. (Or have your local muffler shop make one.) Just pick up a Y-pipe and the muffler of your choice and take it to said muffler shop and let them fab up the rest. (Using your stock cat or not.)

I'd love to do the same but I'd like to also do headers at the same time.

I think the powerpack is still missing the part between the y-pipe and the rear muffler.

I think i'll just make my own center section. Get an aftermarket rear muffler/tubing and then fab my own center. looked under the truck and it doesnt look difficult.
thats a huge cat under there tho.

That center section is called a catalytic converter. You'll find nobody mass produces and sells something to eliminate the converter.

whenever my v10 dies and i need a rebuild/new motor, i wanna do a full exhaust the right way, but for now i took the simple way out and just removed the cat, 3" all the way back to my flowmaster 40, then dual 2.5 to the rear bumper. sounds good enough for me for now.

The Banks powerpack does include a new Y Pipe, along with headers, and full exhaust. I have this setup on my 2005 Ex with a V10.

I just went the powerpack route a couple weeks ago and filled that void with some stainless pipe and a Dynatech (not much bigger than the pipe itself).

I hate the sound of the exhaust. Sounds like a cross between a diesel and a rice cooker w/fart can. Just plain sucks!

Banks headers are impressive (the thickness of the flange which is needed for the inevitable broken head studs). The rest is crap. After a couple grand I gotta redo it. Ain't too happy about it. Soon as the budget can take it I gotta whack the Banks muffler and try a Flowmaster. If that experiment goes good I'm gonna redo the exhaust from the headers back.

Hi Cay,

How do you like the Banks Power? Do you experience any of the issues that BoyNut has? On the Banks website the PowerPack says 99 - 11 on some pages, 99 - 04 on another and 99 - 05 on a third. Emails to them since Monday have gone unanswered.... hmmm.

Is there a CAI and Header / Y Pipe / Muffler combonation anyone out there want to suggest?

Just Y Pipe.

After some reading, I decided to just purchase a Y Pipe on EBay. $100 with shipping and it seems to get rid of the main choke points on the stock system. Most people say that the Headers aren't worth it on the Gas engines for day to day driving. I might also change the muffler and tip when I have my mechanic change out the Y Pipe.

While on this topic, a while ago I was underneath a 2009-10 E series cut away that had a 6.8L 2V. The y pipe on this truck appeared that it might fit Excursion but I wasn't able to verify (also had the same cat flange)...has anyone ever tried this? I think it would clear the X's transfer case and it did not have the restrictions like a factory X y pipe. The E series Y pipe was roughly $120 through Ford parts when I saw this. Anyone?

I wonder if I should get a y pipe for mine. Does the factory setup really restrict it that much?

Have you SEEN the factory y-pipe?

I've seen bigger pipes on Honda Civics. Lol

Jason, I have not experienced those issues on my 05 Excursion. I get a nice rumble from the exhaust. The headers are some of the best I've ever seen and all of the hardware is excellent quality. I did a single outlet, the only issue I've had was a broken rear hanger but that was due to some other work to "move" the exhaust pipe slightly to clear the lift kit I had installed, and then removed. I have since installed air bags and had to replace the one hangar that was bent to the point of breaking. It's probable normal wear and tear. I've had this setup on the EX for 7 years now, that's the only issue I've had.
