Cleaning Out A/C Evaporator Drain???

Hi All,

My 1991 F-150 has water sloshing around inside the A/C system.

I tried gently running a coat hanger up through the drain on the firewall. Also hit it with compressed air although just against the rubber nipple, not using any kind of extension tube. These procedures had no effect.

What should I try next or should I just take her to the stealer? I am assuming I do NOT want to try removing the evaporator case.

Thanks,

Mike I.

Where is the ac evaporator drain located? I have a 02 F150. If we use the Oil Drain plug as a reference point, where is the drain?
Welcome to the Forum!

No, they are not going to hate you and some will be glad you asked that question. The drain should be next to the firewall on the passenger side. If you have the oil drain you are darn close to it.

I have a 97 F-150 with a 5.4 (use to be a 4.6 just changed it) and my drain is a steel pipe about 3/8 inch wide and it is hooked up to one of the bolts that connect the engine and transmission together on the pass. side near the starter. That same bolt also hold the transmission dip stick tube to the engine.
As for cleaning the the drain don't be afraid to use some pressure the blow out whatever is blocking the drain. As for the hanger put some electrical tape and spray some W-D40 on the tip to help it move easier in the rubber hose before you stick it in.
Hope this helps.
