1967-72 F100 with 429 V8?

Does anyone know if Ford ever offered a stock 429 V-8 in any of the F series trucks from 67-72? I one time saw a 67 Ford F100 that the owner claimed had a factory installed 429. Does anyone know? Just curious.

i dont believe they ever installed a 429 in any light duty pickup. they were in heavy duty trucks and the light duty had a 460 optional in 73 on up.

Rergardless of owner claims, Ford never installed a 429 from the factory in a pickup.

It would either be an FE Series(360 or 390) or 300 I-6.

In 67 F100 also had a 352. Don`t think that a 390 was an option in 67, anyone know? I believe the 360 was not availble untill 68.

65-67's had a 352, it jumped to a 360 in 1968 and I believe the 390 was an option. The vin code for a 390 would be an "H" motor (352 and 360 were "Y" codes).

I wasn't sure about the 352, thought it was in 66 and later trucks.

Didn't some have a 232 I-6?

Ford changed a lot in 65. They introduced the twin I-beam, and a new side mount engine system.

223 I6s and 292 V8s front mounts were replaced with 240 I-6 and 352 V8 side mounts.

I suspect you may have seen more than you know, the 240/300 is like the 352-360/390 you can't look at them and tell any difference. All 240s are 300s and 352-360s are 390s on sale day.

Only measuring the stroke can tell for sure.

yea, and they also built a 240 that did well in the horsepower department - had higher compression heads than the 300. At the time they switched we believed the changes were made to meet pollution law requirements - and hung on to our 240s for as long as we could.

They ran with the 300's, and gave better mileage - or so we believed at the time.
