Bucking Bronco
I've got a 1995 bronco xlt automatic with 182k miles. This morning i noticed a banging sound (I think suspension) at higher speeds. (45mph and above).
Can anyone tell me if the transfer case is normally engaged during 2wd driving?
How do i troubleshoot the rear gears?
How can i tell if the universal joint is shot?
Anyone have a similar problem ? If so how did you fix it?
Any sugestions on where to start looking for the cause would be appreciated.

The universal spins, so if it was that, you'd hear it all the way through the RPM range, and at a constant. The faster you go, the faster the sound, and the slower you go the slower the sound. Also, when you shift, it'd probably make a banging sound, as there would be a lot of slack. The transfer case is disengaged in 2wd.
How about your engine size and transmission type? Any mods? It may help to put that in your signature, or remember to type it each time...it's easier to help out for most things.
