to lift or not to lift

77 f250 highboy 390 4x4 4spd
the highboy as u all know is the factory lift which is ok
the thing is im restoring my ford putting a 74 cab and box onto my 77 frame
i dont even know if im gonna be 4wheeling anymore after that, i was thinking maybe a 6 or 8 inch lift with no bigger then 35 inch tires to keep costs low
what are your thoughts on this

The 77 frame is narrower than the 74 if it isn't a highboy too. You can fit 35s under a highboy suspension... stock! So why would you need a lift?

The bed on a highboy has a narrower frame, sorry about that, your, just switching cabs, not everything else so The CABS should fit fine.

But yes 35s will fit with no tire rub under your highboy suspension.

With a 8" you could get 40's in there.

you just have to shim it to the right hight and drill new holes if you look at the bolt holes in your box you will see on a 2wd box or a 1/2 ton 4x4 the outer set of hole stampings are used on a highboy the inner set of stampings is used the rear needs like a 1/2 inch shim/bock the rest antwhere fdron an 1/8 th to a 1/4 inch shims i just made up a bunch of shims (2x2) in quater and eighth w2ith 1/2 in holes an 2 out of 1/2 stock and shimed to match the body lines if you still have your old box measure off that and compar that to the new box as far as cab mounts high box rear cab mounts are different to the fronts are the same so mount the fronts line up the cab for square ands redrill through the frame holes I've use a 7/16 bolt that was put in a lathe and drilled with a quarter inch bit down the center the get a long 1/4 inch bit the bolt goes into th cab mount the quater hole locates you hole then use a hole saw to make the hole the same as the original keep the plastic plugs from bothe cabs and put one set in the old holes and one set in the new

Doesn't lifting your truck increase the wear and tear? I guess it depends if you actually use the lift.

Lifts don't increase the wear and tear on truck, just the user.
