Back seat of my .... Extended cab
I have a 1993 Ford F150 extended cab. The back seat is a split/fold down bench. I'm about to upgrade my stereo in that truck and have decided to keep all my eqipment (sub, amps) in the safety of the cab... not the bed. Unfortunately the back seat only has an inch and a half of clearence (not eneogh for anything to fit under that!) Can someone tell me what to do?
I really want to keep everything looking stock to any potential theifs... especially where i come from. When they look in my truck, all they will see is a normal work truck rather than a glittery "audiomobile."
I got some help from a custom installer and he said that there is a kit available for lifting the rear seat a couple of inches (the backrest is level with the rear window). Is there really such thing? If there is... let me know where i can find one... and how much
Thanks everyone

Larry, you should be able to make your own lift for next to nothing. I lifted my front seat by putting wood strips under the seat frame that used to be armrests off an old office chair. (the shape was perfect) All I had to do was scrounge four longer bolts. Not only can I see better but the support under my thighs is greatly improved.
I don't know if your truck is lifted or not. If it is you could go extreme and make a false floor with hidden compartment under the seat to safely hold all the electronics completely out of sight. Then again if you want to show off your gear mounting it under the seat would allow you to fold the seat forward for inspection. Hey, that gives me an idea for a hidden gun rack... Hope this stirs some cheap alternatives.

glad i could help Chris... hahaaa.
I was really looking for something to upgrade my interior with "certified" kits for safety purposes... I'm not saying what you have is unsafe... i just wanna make sure that it is safe. Besides... i'm not much of a handyman... i'm learning though... the truck is kinda forcing me to.
Oh... about that hidden gun rack.... have you heard of road rage? well i hope you are more responsible than those people i see on the news for shooting someone they got mad at. just a little advice.. i'm kinda "iffy" with people that carry guns in their cars... esp. where i'm from <California> I'm just sayin.. thats all
..although that hidden floor or intergrated seat does sound like a good idea.
