Is there more than one rear end ratio for the above stated pickup with the 9.0 Ford semi-floating front exiting drive assembly? Can I install another without worrying about having to count teeth?

Thank you

I would think there was several options for gear ratios in 85. There should be a tag bolted to the center section that has the ratio your looking for.

LAST EDITED ON 03-Jul-00 AT 03:30 PM (EST)[p]The Ford 9" has many different gearing options available. Ring and Pinions vary anywhere from 3:00.1 all the way to 6:50.1 ratio's. Also, depending on what gears you want, there are different carriers needed. I don't know the specific ratios, but the surface that the ring gear bolts on to will be in different places depending on the thickness of the ring gear. Most 4 wheel shops, or rear-end shops should be able to tell which ratios will require a different carrier.

Also, if the gearing is changed to a different ratio, be sure to change the front gearing as well.
