E350 Engine-mounted fuel filter chage
I like to do my own maintenance but this is unreal. The E350 6.0 powerstroke diesel manual shows the engine-mounted fuel filter in an illustration, and states that to replace it "1. Remove the fuel filter cap by turning counterclockwise." Simple, eh? In the real world the filter is barely even visible, located behind a dozen other things so that even fitting a hand between them is impossible. Anyone done this yourself? What do you have to remove to get at it?

i have done it. it was a real mess the first time. make sure you have the truck facing like down the drive way, i had mine up the drive way and the fuel that was in it came down the frame across the cross member and onto me. Dirty stuff takes alot of fast orange to get that stuff off. i use a socket to get the cap off. i am not 100% on the size but somone here will know. Or i will post when i get home. It is a real pain but now i know why its so $ at the dealer. OH and one other thing make sure you lossen the engine mounted fuel filter cap first so that the preasure will be gone and it can all drain, and then bottom cap on first. i didnt think of this when putting it on. i took the cap off the bottom changed the filter and then had alot of trouble putting the cap back on. you need to lossen the top one to get the bottom one on easily. hope this helps. not to bad of a job once you know these things. good luck..
