Good to know RPM info

I found out last night that just because your motor can turn 9200 rpm's doesn't mean your alternater can. I sat down and did the math, with my engine turning 9200 my alternater was turning 29000 rpm's. There was a warning in the box that said the alternater shouldn't exceed 18000 rpm's. I'm glad I went with a metal fuel line. The internals of the alternator shrapneled the inside of my hood.
Oops, I know not to do that again.

Be careful, you might learn another lesson, just because your engine can turn 9200 rpm doesn't mean you want too...

Yea, I've seen the fans on alternators that had bent out from the force. I suspect that one was a kiss away from ventilating the hood.

9200 huh? Be a man and get it up to 10,000, would ya?

I think I'll keep it below 7000 from now on. I don't really like learning lessons the hard way.
