Turbo spool at speed in Cruise Control.

Rolling along at 75 mph in cruise control, no load, little-to-no wind, flat ground on concrete interstate. Out of nowhere the turbo will spool like the truck is either on a grade or is about to shift down due to the apparent boost increase. I don't necessarily feel anything (maybe a slight acceleration), but i'll hear the turbo spool. By the time I look at the Tach, theres' nothing really going on and I can feel that the truck didn't bring up the rpms (bring the TC out of lock). Also, the turbo spools down immediately. Happens pretty fast. It's almost like the cruise control thinks it needs to add more fuel . . . thus spooling the turbo . . then changes its mind before the rest of the truck really reacts to that much of a boost increase. Happened twice thus far, same variables as listed above, within about 300 miles of each other.

Would appreciate thoughts/speculation/guesses . . . Thanks!

The motor must have experienced some (however minute it may be) load change and compensated for it by adding more fuel/air to the mix to maintain momentum. Sometimes it takes more power to maintain speed. Just because the turbo spools doesn't mean it has to accelerate.

Tim:
No, the truck has not been flashed since I bought it in May (10/03 build).

Customz:
That may very well be the case . . . although without any obvious variable to cause that, i was scratching my head.

Mebbe it's a feature, not a bug.

I just added a thread with what I think is the same issue except I was pulling a steep grade. BTW-I just had the latest flash last week. The sound I heard was nothing I have heard before if that helps, but I dont know if it is the same as what you had.

I just posted a similar thread http://www.fordtrucks.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=321525.

Mine only does it when it is like below 20-25 degrees outside even with the engine warmed up.

Mine was flashed 12-09-03, it does not seem to affect the power and the truck runs great so as long as its not a problem, I don't want the dealer to do anything about it right now since my current flash runs great.
