1966 Econoline v-8 swap

does anyone have any information on how to swap a 240 inline 6 to a 302? I am going to use the stock c-4 trans and don't want to move it at all, just bolt the engine up and mount it to the frame. I am just gathering a lot opf info prior to starting in on the project.

you will need a reworked crossmember, radiator, dog house widened, cable throttle linkage, [which you may have on a 66 240], and assorted other bits and peices.

You may have to check the bell housing on you C-4 to make sure it will match up to the 302 block. There were 2 differant bolt patterns a 5 bolt and a 6 bolt and they are not interchangable but you can swap out bell housings and still use the origina C4

what would happen if i used hugger headers, could i get away with not having to widen the doghouse? I have an old petersons engine swap guide that tells how to do the swap in a 62 econoline, but i wiuld like to get more info than the article gives. also what about moving the crossmember down and back, read that if you move it back four inches and down 1 3/4 inches it all bolts up, is this true? if not does anyone have a spare 240 i-6 crossmember for sale cheap?? i talked to eugene ..... i forgot his last name but he is in california and builds the v-8 crossmembers from yours, but if i ever want to put the van back stock i would like to have the 240 c-member thanks a lot for all your info because i really appreciate it, as you all know its rather hard to find info on these projects!

I just bought a bone stock original 62 econoline today! Got it out of Atlanta..stored for 25 years. I want to upgrade the engine... from the 170 to a reliable 200 6.

I will start a new thread I think
