Bed swap

Is a bed swap from a 69 LWB to a 72 LWB a bolt on swap or do mods have to be made? My 72 bed is pretty rusted and I am looking at a 69 parts truck that has a decent bed and tailgate and I just want to unbolt and swap the beds.

You shouldn't need to do anything to do the bed swap for those beds.

Should be a 8 bolt swap. If you will gently lift the front and lower it to the ground on the tailgate, you should be able to reverse the order and install it on the receiver all by yourself. An old packing blanket or new 2x4s will keep it scratch free.

Bed swap

Although possible to do alone, don't try it. Get a buddy or 2 to help out. Makes it go much quicker and easier.

Start spraying the bed bolts with penetrant everyday about a week before doing the bed swap.

Elementary my Dear Jowilker, a guy on each side and one in the back at the tailgate. Weight is disbursed and lightens the load.

How could a buddy not? Hell I can't imagine doing it alone. How much does the damn thing weigh?

Get buds, you have to wait for them to get there, then pay them off with beer. They can help with the lift, but I don't recommend something that I haven't done, once I removed one by myself and found how easy it was I recommend it to others.

My guess is around 300lbs. I know the 6' bed on our 94 ranger weighs about 250 or so.
