installing dvd in 2004 navigator - help w/ wiring
hello, i hope someone can help,
i recently purchased a new (2004) factory oem dvd player that i want to install in my 2004 lincoln navigator. i know i need to purchase a bracket that spans the moon roof - this part i think i am ok with. However, when it comes to the wiring, i have a few questions. I do have the 6 cd radio in the truck which i think i have read is necessary to run the dvd through so all of the controls work properly. For everything to work like factory installed, how do i wire from the 20 pin dvd to the radio?
1. do i need to build a harness or does ford sell one?
2. does this harness plug from dvd to the back of radio?
3. does radio have a plug connection or do i have to modify/cut into the existing radio plug?
4. does anyone have a schematic wiring diagram?
thanks, i really appreciate any help here

Hey dean,
I don't know if this site will help or not but hopefully it will. www.the12volt.com . They had some good wiring info when I put my nav unit in my SD. You have to sign up to get through some spots but it's free and easy. Good luck!

Do a search, a guy listed the pin configurations and what they are a few months back.
Aw heck, I'm feeling generous. i searched for you.

I'll try to find my diagrams. I have done 16 pin ones but the radio is same. This thread is for modulator, but you can wire through the radio. It requires the wires to be spliced into the connector, power, communications, etc.

I can help..
Are you still looking for help on the DVD wiring? The simple answer is to buy the harness from Ford - I need to find the PN for you. It will plug into a connector which should be pre-installed just behind the LR door on the pillar. Let me know if you need additional detail...
