Bigger fuel tank...

I tried using the search function but I didn't find what I was looking for.

I have a '94 F150 that has only one tank and was wondering if there were any options for installing a larger tank. I am getting to know my local gas station attendants all to well.

Thanks in advance,
bp

Yes there is - I'm thinking about doing the same thing as well. You'll need to get a fuel pump and sending unit for a Bronco as well: http://store.ineedparts.com/store/co...idProduct=6947

New 38 gallon aftermarket tank for the rear cost 360.00. Two 19 gallon tanks cost 100.00 each. I have the same problem iam going with one 19 gallon front tank i should get about 230 miles on a full tank.

B_P has a F150 why a bronco pump and sending unit? Does replacing a 19 gallon rear tank an a F150 to a larger 38 gallon tank need a better pump?

Buy a 33 gallon tank for a Bronco (about $100.00). Purchase new sending unit, pump, & straps for said bronco & it will mount in the same position as your rear tank.

Bronco's have 33 gallon tanks, F-series have 19 gallon tanks.

You need the correspondant pump & sending unit for the larger deeper tank. If you used the F-series sending unit & fuel pump you will run out of gas at around a half of tank because the pump can not reach the bottom of tank.

Read the posts Fuel tanks farther in this area and check the answers out. I think some one might be wrong.

I pasted the post by lee93
A 33 gallon Bronco tank will fit under the rear of the truck nice. All you have to do is get four 3/4 inch by 10 inch long bolts to handle the deeper tank. You will also need to get a Bronco fuel sending unit, because the Bronco tank is 16 inches deep and your sending unit will not reach the bottom of the deeper tank. All the connections are the same. You can get a Heavy Duty Polyethylene Gas Tank for your truck. It costs $129.95 or a steel tank for around $90.00.

The tank is at http://store.ineedparts.com/store/c...?idProduct=6947 You will need the one with the 3 5/8 inch hole.

The fuel sending unit you will have to look around for. The ford dealer will want way too much so don't go there. Get a used one for about $50.

You will also need the little plastic tool to remove the fuel lines about $8.

I did this on my 93 F-150. I did all the work my self and I spent about $200 total and it sure makes it nice not to go to the pumps all the time. I also have the front tank, now the only problem is I need a loan to fill my truck now!!

One more note you will have to remove your spare tire and rack, then throw the tire in the bed. If you have a trailer hitch it might have to get removed temporarily to make the installation
