GEM Module source

What year, what vehicle, what options, is it custom? Helpful info for a reply. Not ******* ya dude, just asking. Blindly, I would say check a good recovery yard. By a good one I mean one that has a computer so if it doesn't have what you want, it can get online and find it at another. I don't believe a GEM mod is specific, but usually the yard can tell ya, check the connectors to be sure. Count and check your wire colors and match them also. Don't take the yards word of "don't worry it will fit", start worrying because it usually doesn't. Crossreference your wiring and the one you are getting.
Some yards are pick and pull,....but some will pull for ya, these are generally good ones because they don't want people hacking up there profits.

Actually this should be a seperate thread, but that's ok, I'm not a mod......lol. I have a 97 also, w/remote start, and it doesn't always start (1 of 200 or so), but mine fails on first cold start. It will start on the next crank though.
Ok, first a couple questions: How many miles are on it, what size motor, does this do this on cold morning start or when its warm?
An initial recommendation may be the DPFE unit, located on the driver side of the throttle body. Its a pot mettle piece about the size of a playing card with two vacuum lines coming in behind it. Check the holes in the unit that the vacuum's connect to, they may be corroded, constricting flow. Just replace the unit, the replacement is plastic and won't corrode. Another possibility, depending on mileage, is spark plugs, they are generally only good to around 100-120k. These are just a couple to start with, with more info from you maybe we can be more specific.
