Ok, so here's the deal.
As I was driving around the block after I rebuilt my 4.6l f150. The motor shut off as soon as I accelerated from a stop sign and immediately I noticed the theft light rapidly blinking and all dashes on the mileage reading on the cluster.

1. First thing I did, once I got it home was swap the fuel relay with the PCM relay. Nothing!
2. Then, I replaced all relays. Nothing!
3. Checked and recleaned all ground surfaces. Nothing!
4. Then, I connected the PCM ground straight to the battery. Nothing!
5. Called a key Smith to make me 2 new chipped keys, still nothing!

I asked the key Smith if he was able to use whatever scanning tool he was using to reprogram the keys with to check if any codes come up... Voila, U1262 code pops up.....

Can anyone give me direct help with this issue?

It could be a bad transceiver ring that reads the chip in the key. It's like an antenna that picks up the code from the key. It fits around the ignition cylinder.

 

No, you're fishing too far "downstream", chasing the tail of a symptom. A transceiver fault (nor any other PATS fault) can NOT cause a running engine to stop. It will not cause the stated symptoms.

That is the indication that the cluster and the PCM lost communication with each other. Since the cluster won't kill a running engine but a PCM issue (power, ground, internal, etc) will, focus your immediate attention on the PCM and its requirements (like power and ground).

The U1262 was posted by the cluster because it lost communications with the PCM.

Was he able to connect with the PCM itself or not?

 

Start replacing parts without a scan tool and pinpoint tests
Makes me want to start a parts store
Check for codes then follow the pinpoint tests for the codes

 

The returns from the guessers and parts swappers will kill your bottom line...

 

There is no return of electrical parts or any part showing evidence of being installed
Just like the Ford dealer
