94.5 powerstroke clutch orTO bearing noise question??

Its a 94.5 powerstroke..It has had a new flywheel, clutch & pressure plate(supposedly) well when I started it I had clutch pushed all the way in & everything was fine..I let out a lil bit & it makes some hammering type noise(pretty loud) then let out a lil more(before taking off in gear) and the noise stops..so the noise is in between fully depressed & before engaging clutch..I though maybe a bad TO bearing but I would think it would shut up when depressed if bad..I dont have a clue & I havent bought this truck yet..I was gonna buy it tonihgt but that scared me..dont know how much I will get into with it..owner of it now says it was no big deal to him..it ran & drove fine & the noise didnt bother him at all..said he just spent 1700 on it getting it fixed..I think I would be a lil upset if I spent that much & had the noise..guess hes BSing me huh? Well anyone have a clue what it might be?
Thanks,Brian

You could drive the pick-up to the shop that charged $1700.00 and ask them, most Ford dealerships will do vehicle inspections, that gave me a good idea of what I was getting into before I bought my 94.5 from a private party.

I think your truck had a dual mass flywheel stock. Find out if the flywheel was replaced with a single mass unit when the clutch was done. Not sure but I think I remember someone describing a similar sound in with a bad dual mass flywheel. Not 100% on this but it can't hurt to check.
