edge evolution chips on 94.5 ??

Was wondering if anyone has used an edge chip on a 94.5 truck.the part number EEF 1000 shows to hook in uder dash to the OBDII but I didnt think that hookup worked on 94.5..when I hook in my snapon scanner it wont read much on it..I have to hook up under hood to find anything out..any ideas? Also it states 60-100hp settings..I also though 60 was about max on the 94.5 powerstroke? anyone know anything about this or which way is best to go..I have a 94.5 powerstroke in a rollback with pretty steep gears turns about 3k @65-70mph so it doesnt get good gas milage & from driving a friends 96 model it doesnt have anywhere near the power & his doesnt have an intercooler either..any ideas? Just want a lil more power & fuel milage
Thanks,Brian

OBDII was not on most vehicles before 1996, alot of these trucks were OBD II until late 96 or 1997. must be different i would bet. 3K @ 70mph is low gears. mine only turns approx. 2K @ 70. no, intercoolers were not stock on these trucks till 1999 on the 1st yr of SD. intercoolers do not make the extra power directly, they just make the charge cooler and more dense so the egt's are lower and the possibility to run mmore fuel and that;s where the power comes from. good luck.

I'm running an Edge Evolution on my 96 and I like the extra output. I'm only running on the lowest power setting until I upgrade the exhaust and get an EGT gauge. When I first bought it I ran it on the middle level setting and it was very impressive. Still haven't tried the high power setting yet. On the low level towing setting my mileage hasn't gone down. It may have even increased slightly. My mileage varies quite a bit depending on how hard I drive it, but with 4.10's on stock tires I get around 13-16mpg. Edge website says it works on 94.5. Hook it up and give it a shot. You won't be disappointed.

I have used an edge evolution on my 97 and on a friends 95. My truck always ran better on the second setting, it was faster and less smoke. I have upgraded to a dp tuner 4 position chip from Jody and could not be happier. They were almost the same price, and my truck runs A LOT smoother, more power and more boost with less smoke. Just something to think about. I got tired of not being in the right setting all the time and having to wait 5 minutes to reprogram it.

WOW 3k at 70 mph, with my 4.10's it is right at 2500rpms at 70mph. You must have 5.38 gearing.

you have your gearing backwards, no 3;73's i believe w/ taller tires. 4:10's are lower gears than 3:73's.
5:38's would be for off road and rock crawling.

Well if national is running stock size tires and @70mph it runs 3000 rpms.

My truck with stock tires has 4.10 gearing runs 2500 rpms @70mph

18vtx00 your truck runs @ 2000 rpms @ 70mph which is a 3.73 gear.

How is this backwards? If national is running stock size tires I would almost bet he has lower gears (higher numerically). The lowest gears I found for these trucks was 5.38's. I could be wrong, he could have some other gearing.

But either way if he has to run down the highway at 3000 rpms there is not a good chance he will get good fuel mileage. But he could pull a house up Mt Everest.

bnecause the way you have been wording yor knowledge on gearing is not correct, or you did not address the proper person, you listed just above here that you(i assumed it was to me) that i must have a 5:38 ring and pinion ratio, when i have a higher ratio then you and national because my rpms are much lower @ similar speeds. maybe you just did not address the correct person that is why i actually cut and paste or just reply to an existing post, not to start a new one and noone knows whom it is meant for.. lata man!!
