98 4dr Explorer trailer wiring prob?

I have a 98 4dr Explorer with 4pin wiring already on. Went out and bought Reese 74184 7-way adapter to plug into the existing 4pin, and took my Tekonsha Voyager (brake control) off my old Jeep. The Tekonsha was hooked up to a wire on my ABS in the Jeep and my Explorer has 4or5 wires hooked up to the ABS. Which one do I hook the Tekonsha up to?

You might be able to save yourself a boatload of time and not have to mess with the ABS or anything like that. Your Explorer might be partially pre-wired for electric brakes. Look for a six-pin connector under the dashboard on the driver's side. It has two rows of three pins and release tabs on both sides, gray plastic in color. If you have one, then all you need is a pigtail harness from ford. Then you can hook your Voyager up to that following the directions they give you and tap into the factory harness at the rear of the frame on the driver's side.

I can't promise that it'll be there for you, but I know for a fact that this plug is on the following Fords:

-F-150/250 (known good for 1997 and up)
-F-250/350/greater Super Duty
- Crown Victoria / Mercury Grand Marquis
- E150/350/350

Check it out. Splicing into ABS and stuff sounds dangerous. I have two trucks with Voyagers on them. They need 12V + power, An output wire, a ground, and a brake light switch signal. Ford has standardized these for you. If you have that harness, the green wire is the brake light switch. Dark Blue is the Brake Controller Output Line, and that ought to be golden all the way back to the frame if you've got the connector. I don't have the rest of the stuff in front of me, but that's a start for you.

Good luck!
