1985 Bronco starts to stall in hot weather
Hey guys:
My 85 Bronco has a 351 and holley 4bbl.
Only in hot weather when I have to trudge in traffic does this happen.
It will lose power and actually attempt to stall. I can stick it in neutral and gas it and she'll come back to life but it really has to clear it's throat before I can move on.
In cold weather it's perfect.
The coolant stay at 200 degrees and the carb is not quite a year old.
Could this be fuel pump or do I need to adjust the carb. for air/fuel or is there something I'm missing. The tailpipe is pretty black so I may be running rich.
One more thing. I've got my breather inverted for more air. Should I get a mustang dual snorkle breather and duct cold air in or leave it like it is.
All suggestions are appreciated.
Joe

1985 Bronco stalls
Hey G.
Are you referring to the coil?
The module on top of the wheel well has been disconnected. I had a sharp mechanic bypass it.
I have no computer or any type of control managing the engine.
Cataylic converter is hollow, emissions completely gone so it's a straight 351W with a Holley carb.
The last few days here have been cool and she runs like a champ. Only during hot weather does she want to stall out.
All replies are appreciated.

On the distributor, there should be an ignition module. Unless you have the entire engine brought to bare bones. There should be some computer in that one being an 86. But then again, I've been wrong before...
The module that I am talking about is located on the distributor, it's a small gray box normally under the cap on the side...
Like I said, I could be dead wrong, I know mine had one..

Happened to me , ignition module was good you I just needed to grease the back of it up and slap it back on.....
Take it off and take it to autozone to have it tested......
if its good...buy pro grade dieletric grease be generous and slap it back on ...Tis was my fix.....
The greas keeps the module cool according to shop manual

Try this. Cheap and fairly easy
Easy fix? Try this one... when engine gets hot your fuel pump relief lifts and you lose fuel pressure, idle uses less fuel so it's not happening.
Three things makes your vehicle run, air spark fuel. If air filter is clean and you got spark then fuel makes sense to me.
It's the fuel pump / regulator / filter or a combination.
I would try changing the fuel pump, regulator, and fuel filter and hopefully problem is history.
Worst case scenario could be the in tank low pressure pump, which isn't supplying fuel to high pressure pump.
In my case I had a high pitched whine I could hear about a half a minute before I lost power, which was the internal relief in the fuel pump.
